it took leaving to appreciate just how tech centric the bay/sf is.. two things i noticed especially in intense apt hunting…
1) groupon is a social phenomenon here. it was assumed that everyone subscribes to it and i had 3 separate conversations about the day’s groupon (zip car)
2) walking past 16th & Valencia, i overhead the following empassioned claim “at the end of the day 100% its the hardware. THATS why you have to go with the iphone.”
it makes me realize just how disconnected from tech i was in nyc…and more so in London. though i do miss the east london hipsters, i must say they dress way “better” at least more interesting than the sf ones. seriously, i miss the groups of people dressed like the fresh prince of bel air….for a set of folks who never grew up watching saved by the bel, they love their ugly sweaters.
